Foster homes for horses (and other animals) play a crucial role in rehabilitating rescued animals. They are in a unique position to help abused or neglected animals learn to love and trust again. Foster homes can help these animals become more adoptable by providing socialization and basic to advanced training. By teaching or re-teaching the foster animal how to trust and behave, foster homes help increase the odds for a smooth and successful transition into a permanent adoptive home. And, importantly, SAIN funds the costs of keeping a foster animal. You provide the love and care and keep us up-to-date on the animal's condition.
SAIN COVERS THE EXPENSES
SAIN funds the costs of the hay, grain, supplements, medical and farrier care, rehabilitation (medical and behavioral), and training for all animals in foster homes.
LOVE & SAFETY
A SAIN foster home must love animals and have the time and resources to provide a foster animal with adequate care and safe fencing and shelter.
REPORT ON PROGRESS
We expect foster homes to provide regular updates on the animal's progress and timely notification of any issues or medical needs.
Foster homes are asked to provide foster animals with plenty of love, adequate food and water, shelter from the elements, and appropriate exercise. At times, administering medication may also be necessary.
FOSTER HOMES MAY TRANSPORT
Foster homes may also be asked to transport foster animals to veterinary appointments or schedule on site farm calls at their home or facility and assist with adoption events.
