F2A Phase 1: First 3 Months
SAIN pays for all feed, veterinary, and farrier care within the contract guidelines. If the F2A home prefers, they may pay for the care noted above, in which case documentation of costs incurred must be provided to SAIN so a proper receipt for the donation can be provided.
F2A Phase 2: Second 3 Months
The foster home takes on responsibility for all costs associated with caring for the animal properly, as outlined in the contract. Since the animal remains the property of SAIN, the costs for caring for the animal are considered a donation. Costs must be documented in order to issue a receipt.
ASSESSMENT POINTS
At the conclusion of Phase I, the foster home and SAIN will assess whether to continue into Phase 2 or discontinue the trial.
At the conclusion of Phase 2, if all goes well and the animal is adopted, the adoption fee is waived.
If the F2A home decides at any time that they do not wish to proceed to adopting the animal, they should notify SAIN as soon as possible. If desired and appropriate, the F2A home may continue to care for the animal as a standard foster home.
