Skagit Animals in Need

Skagit Animals in Need (SAIN) is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming horses and livestock released to or seized by animal control or law enforcement. 

Our Mission 

Skagit Animals in Need's mission is to prevent and respond to animal cruelty and neglect primarily in support of law enforcement. 

Our Programs

Foster Home-Based Rehabilitation & Rehoming

SAIN places horses and other large animals seized by law enforcement as a result of neglect or cruelty in vetted foster homes where we provide for their physical and behavioral rehabilitation until they are ready for us to find them a forever home.

Foster-to-Adopt

A six-month program that lets prospective adopters foster an animal before official adoption. Adoption fee is waived.

Animal Assistance Program

SAIN can help provide financial aid for feed, vet, and farrier for people experiencing temporary economic hardship.

Domestic Violence Case Assistance Program

We can provide interim animal care (in foster homes or boarding) for the animals of domestic violence victims trying to make a positive change in their lives.

Skagit Pet Pantries

Skagit Animals in Need provides dog and cat food to local food banks by purchasing pallets of food every other month. It is distributed to the local food banks by Community Action Skagit County's Food Distribution Center.
